GERMAN FINANCIAL services company Deutshce Postbank has renewed its front-of-shirt sponsorship deal with Bundesliga club Borussia Mönchengladbach for a further two years.
The new agreement will see the Postbank logo remain on the home and away Mönchengladbach jerseys until June 2015, after new terms were agreed with over a year left to run on the current contract.
Frontloaded values the deal at between €3m and €5m per year.
Bonn-based Postbank first sponsored the club in 2009, agreeing a two-year deal to run through the 2010/11 season before renewing for a further two years until 2012/13.
Postbank’s only other major sports sponsorship campaign was as a national sponsor of the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany.
Football, however, is a focus of major investment for the retail banking specialist, which uses the sport as a foundation of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) activity, providing footballs and equipment to schools and clubs around Germany.
It is likely that Postbank CEO Stefan Juette worked alongside the marketing team on negotiations for the sponsorship extension with Borussia Mönchengladbach.
