Lotus takes a pragmatic approach to racing heritage

THE RECENT history of Lotus in Formula One is a confusing one. Team Lotus, the team that enjoyed a run of constructor and driver wins in the 60s, 70s and 80s appeared to be reborn under Tony Fernandes who acquired the name under licence from Group Lotus in 2010. His privately-owned team raced under the Lotus name in the 2011 season but changed its name to Caterham in a move which cleared the way for the former Renault F1 Team to re-badge as Lotus F1 for 2012.
