ON SEPTEMBER 14, the northern German state of Schleswig-Holstein relaxed its gambling laws in Germany’s highly-regulated monopoly market. Not only will the state profit from tax returns that were made abroad thanks to international betting by German residents, but local German sports clubs will be allowed to profit from betting sponsorships.
