LG HAS PUT the pinch on shipments of Sony’s PlayStation 3 consoles after it won a temporary injunction against the Japanese company over a patent claim. ICC and Formula One sponsor, LG claims Sony has used its Blu-ray technology in the PS3 and reports have suggested 10s of thousands of units have been seized by court officials in the Netherlands where the claim was filed. LG and Sony have a recent track record of litigation since a technology sharing agreement broke down three years ago. Sony went through the International Trade Commission to block its rival from importing several smartphone models into the US last year. - 7/3/2011
