BARCLAYS' ANNOUNCEMENT that it will pay its senior team over £100m in pay, shares and bonuses looks set to reignite another spate of banker bashing. The figure dwarfs the earnings of Premier League footballers with whom they have often been compared and comes despite a less than stellar performance for shareholders. At the same time Barclays UK retail operation is recruiting for a new head of communications. The growing disparity between Barclay’s Capital, its investment arm and the high street network makes this an invidious position. Only thick-skinned candidates should apply. - 8/3/2011
