Yonex signs up to Para-Badminton World Championships

Japanese sports equipment manufacturer Yonex has agreed to become a partner of this year’s edition of the Badminton World Federation’s Para-Badminton World Championships.

Under the agreement, Yonex will serve as the official sports equipment partner of the event, which will take place in Stoke Mandeville, England from September 8-13.

This year’s tournament will be the first World Championships to be held since it was confirmed that para-badminton will feature in the Tokyo 2020 summer Paralympic Games programme.

Adrian Christy, chief executive of the Badminton England national governing body, said: “Major events are a key part of Badminton England’s strategy to grow participation as well as give our players the opportunity to perform in their own country and we hope these Championships will excite and inspire thousands of players with disabilities to play badminton.”

Yonex has already established a presence in the English badminton market through an ongoing partnership with Badminton England.

Yonex last year extended its title sponsorship of the All England Open Badminton Championships through to 2021. The firm also recently agreed a multi-year deal to become the official equipment partner of the English National Championships Series and National Badminton League.
