Food and beverages company Lion has agreed a deal for its beer brand XXXX Gold to sponsor the 2018 edition of the Commonwealth Games multi-sport event, which will take place in Australia’s Gold Coast region.
XXXX Gold will serve as the official beer and cider of the Games, which run from April 4-15.
Brands from across the XXXX family, including Summer Bright Lager, will be sold in Games venues and at festival zones throughout the Gold Coast and three event cities Brisbane, Townsville and Cairns.
Commonwealth Games Australia chief executive, Craig Phillips, also said that Lion’s partnership would extend to the Australian team.
XXXX Gold also served as the official beer of the 1982 Games in Brisbane.
