Williams furthers Brazilian ties with Banco do Brasil deal

Formula One motor racing team Williams has announced a new partnership with Brazilian financial institution Banco do Brasil for the 2014 season.

Under the deal, the financial terms of which were undisclosed, Banco do Brasil’s branding will feature on the engine cover of the Williams Mercedes FW36, driver overalls and team kit at every race during the 2014 F1 calendar.

Last week, Williams announced another major tie-up with the return of Brazilian energy company Petrobras to its sponsorship roster. The deals come with Brazilian driver Felipe Massa having moved to the team from Ferrari for the 2014 season, while fellow countryman Felipe Nasr was last week confirmed as test and reserve driver.

Ahead of the F1 season-opener in Australia next month, Williams has signed a host of new commercial partners in recent weeks.

Luxury watch brand Oris and lifestyle protection insurer Genworth have confirmed on-car branding placements for 2014, while Italian spirits brand Martini is reported to be close to becoming Williams’ title sponsor – a designation that has been vacant since US telecommunications company AT&T cut its ties with the team upon the conclusion of a five-year deal in 2011.
