US Olympics hit by loss of Dick’s Sporting Goods sponsorship

A troubled year for the United States Olympic Committee ended on a disappointing note following news that Dick’s Sporting Goods will not renew its sponsorship deal with the governing body.

The sports goods retailer attributed a “new investment focus” to the decision to withdraw from the relationship but did not elaborate further.

The move represents a further blow for USOC, which has come under fire amidst the continued fallout from the Larry Nassar scandal.

A report found that the governing body’s top executives were made aware of sexual-abuse allegations against Nassar in 2015 but failed to act, allowing more abuse to continue.
