Ukrainian construction company UDP has agreed a deal to become the new title sponsor of the country’s Ukrainian Super Cup, an exhibition match that serves as the curtain-raiser for the domestic club football season.
Although the terms of the agreement were not disclosed, it was confirmed that the 2016 edition of the game will be known as the UDP Super Cup.
In addition, a specially-composed UDP theme tune will accompany the teams as they enter the field of play before the start of the match.
First staged in 2004, the Super Cup is played between the winner of the previous season’s Ukrainian Premier League top-tier and the Ukrainian Cup knockout competition.
As the holder of the Ukrainian Cup, Shakhtar Donetsk will face league champion Dynamo Kiev in the 2016 Super Cup at Chornomorets Stadium on July 16.
