Tourism body joins Canada Winter Games roster

Local tourism industry stakeholders group Tourism Prince George has agreed a partnership with the 2015 Canada Winter Games.

Tourism Prince George will serve as the official local tourism partner for the multi-sport event, which will run from February 13 to March 1 in Prince George, British Columbia.

The two entities will work together to increase awareness and promotion of the host city and region, along with tracking the Games’ economic impact locally.

Erica Hummel, Tourism Prince George chief executive, said: “With visitor spending and spin-off effect, the 2014 Canada Winter Games test events left a financial impact of over C$2m (€1.35m/$1.8m), according to the Canadian Sport Tourism Alliance’s sport tourism economic assessment model.”

The 2015 Canada Winter Games are projected to generate an economic impact of more than C$90m for the British Columbia region.
