Toronto 2015 takes flight with GTAA partnership

The Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA) is to lend its support to the Toronto 2015 Pan American and Parapan American Games by making Toronto Pearson International Airport an official welcome partner and official supplier of airport services for the two events.

Canada’s largest airport will welcome tens of thousands athletes, spectators, media and dignitaries from 41 Pan American countries that will take part in the multi-sport events, which comprise of a programme of Olympic and non-Olympic sports.

The airport will also have brand ambassadors on site to provide a welcoming atmosphere for athletes and visitors. Together with the Toronto 2015 Games Organising Committee (TO2015) and other sponsors, Toronto Pearson will work to promote the Games at the airport, as well as showcase the Greater Toronto Area. This activity will include mascot appearances, retail space for Games merchandise, culture and art areas, and dedicated areas for athletes and dignitaries to receive Games accreditation.

Ian Troop, chief executive of TO2015, said: “The airport will be the gateway to the Games for the majority of the athletes coming here to compete. Our partnership with Toronto Pearson will ensure these athletes — as well as up to tens of thousands of visitors — have a great experience from the moment they arrive to the time they leave in 2015. Our goal is to create unforgettable memories that have people planning their return to Canada and Ontario before they even leave.”

Toronto Pearson International Airport joins previously announced members of the Toronto 2015 sponsor family in the shape of lead partner CIBC; premier partners Chevrolet Canada and Cisco; official suppliers Pattison Outdoor Advertising, Fuse Marketing Group and the Toronto Star; and official broadcaster CBC/Radio-Canada.
