Tokyo 2020 connects with Cisco

The Japanese arm of US IT company Cisco has signed on as the latest partner of the Tokyo 2020 organising committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Cisco has been named a domestic second-tier official partner in the ‘network equipment’ category.

Under the agreement, financial terms of which were not disclosed, Cisco will be permitted to use official Olympic and Paralympic emblems, mascots and slogans.

Cisco partnered with the London 2012 Games and will also support this summer’s Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

“We will evolve our accomplishments at the London 2012 and Rio 2016 Games and contribute to the success of Tokyo 2020 by providing cutting-edge network equipment,” Miyuki Suzuki, president and general manager of Cisco Systems G.K., the company’s Japanese subsidiary, said.

The total number of domestic partnerships secured by Tokyo 2020 now stands at 37, a figure that includes 22 official partners.
