Electric carmaker Tesla is backing US-based student motor-racing competition Formula SAE by providing equipment and advice.
Formula SAE has been running since the 1980s and is an initiative of US engineer trade body the Society of Automobile Engineers. SAE runs several vehicle design competitions for American and international students, including Formula SAE, off-road event Baja SAE and the SAE Clean Snowmobile Challenge.
