Tennis Canada serves up Fila partnership

Tennis Canada, the sport’s governing body in the country, has entered into a partnership with Italian sportswear brand Fila.

The company has agreed a multi-year deal to become the body’s official athletic apparel and footwear partner. Fila has also been named a silver sponsor of the Rogers Cup, the annual men’s ATP World Tour and women’s WTA Tour tournaments which are held in the Canadian cities of Montreal and Toronto.

As Tennis Canada’s exclusive apparel and footwear provider, Fila will supply on- and off-court clothing during the Rogers Cup, as well as official uniforms for the Davis Cup and Fed Cup national team events. As a sponsor of the Rogers Cup, Fila will provide outfits for all ball crew, staff and volunteers.

Fila will extend its backing to senior, junior and wheelchair national and international events, while Team Canada officials and national training centre participants will also benefit from the partnership. The two parties will develop a clothing and accessories line, which is scheduled for release this summer.

“Fila and their high-end style and product will help unite Canadian tennis players, officials and coaches from coast-to-coast through a uniform look,” Rob Swann, Tennis Canada’s vice-president and chief commercial officer, said. “It will also be hugely beneficial for fans who will now have the opportunity to purchase high-quality merchandise and feel like part of the ever-growing Canadian tennis family.”

Canada’s Fila-branded outfit will be worn for the first time during the women’s Fed Cup match against Belarus later this week.
