Sydney’s Big Bash teams boosted by new deals

Australian Twenty20 cricket franchises Sydney Thunder and Sydney Sixers have secured new sponsorship deals for this season’s Big Bash League.

The University of Canberra is backing the Thunder, while the Sixers have teamed up Nestlé Purina petcare brand Ruffs.

Both sponsors will benefit from branding on the teams’ playing shirts, along with pitch-side and online exposure.

Under the Sydney Thunder deal, the University of Canberra also gains the title sponsorship of the Thunder National Cup – a community competition involving players from eight different cultural backgrounds. The final will be played at ANZ Stadium as a curtain raiser for the Thunder’s match against Brisbane Heat on January 8.

The deal with Ruffs completes Sydney Sixers’ major sponsor roster for the Big Bash. Sydney City Toyota, Nova 969, Masuri and iinet are also listed in the category.
