Spalding commits to Euroleague with long-term extension

US basketball equipment supplier Spalding has renewed its partnership with Euroleague Basketball, the organisation which oversees continental club competitions in Europe.

Spalding will continue to serve as the official provider of basketballs for the Euroleague and Eurocup competitions until the end of the 2020-21 season after agreeing a five-year extension to its previous deal. The company has also been named the official backboard of the Euroleague.

Spalding has provided basketballs for the Euroleague and Eurocup since the beginning of the 2012-13 season. The company has also developed customised Unite team basketballs that feature the logos of teams competing in the Euroleague.

Spalding’s international vice-president Tadd Reilly said: “Spalding is extremely proud to continue our partnership with the Euroleague and Eurocup. The partnership reinforces the shared vision to continue to grow the game of basketball in Europe.”

The deal comes with Euroleague Basketball and the International Basketball Federation (Fiba) remaining in dispute over the future direction of the club game in Europe.
