Scottish IT firm backs Glasgow 2018

Scottish IT specialist NVT Group has agreed a deal to sponsor the 2018 edition of the European Championships multi-sport event, which will be held in Glasgow and Berlin.

NVT Group will serve as the official networks and network integration services supporter for Glasgow’s event.

Through its AiiR Networks business, NVT Group will provide telecommunications services, internet access and network integration to venues during the event, which will run from August 2-12 next year.

AiiR Networks will also co-ordinate the delivery of technology services and oversee network design, architecture and information security during the event.

NVT Group was selected following what Glasgow 2018 said was a competitive tender process.

Tom Mitchell, NVT Group technical director, said: “We will be deploying technology solutions which were born from our past engagements, including the XX Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, plus additional technology innovation, such as our ViiA Cloud Solution developed over recent years, to make sure that we fully support Glasgow 2018 in being a resounding success.”

Glasgow will co-host the inaugural European Championships alongside the German capital. Around 3,000 athletes are scheduled to visit Glasgow for golf, aquatics, cycling, gymnastics, rowing and triathlon events, with Berlin due to host athletics events.
