Sauber counts down to 2016 F1 season with Edox

Formula One motor racing team Sauber has signed Swiss watch manufacturer Edox as a new premium partner.

Sauber, which is based in the Swiss municipality of Hinwil, said the agreement with its new watch partner will be a long-term association, without specifying the terms of the deal.

Alexandre Strambini, chief executive of Montres Edox & Vista, said: “Formula One enjoys above-average popularity in Europe, America and Asia, where Edox has a growing distribution. For us, as a Swiss watch company with a watchmaking history dating back more than 130 years, it is very important to work together with the appropriate team.

“With its Swiss roots, high performance aspirations and a huge popularity rating, the Sauber F1 Team is the ideal partner for us. We will soon launch the first amazing timepiece carefully engineered for the fastest drivers on our planet.”

Edox joins Banco do Brasil, Silanna, IFS, CNBC, Malbuner Power Slice and Emil Frey on Sauber’s principal and premium partner portfolio ahead of the start of the 2016 F1 season in Melbourne, Australia on March 18-20. CNBC, Malbuner and IFS have all signed deals with the team since the end of the 2015 campaign.
