Sasol continues support of South African women’s football

The South African Football Association has extended its partnership with energy and chemical company Sasol through to 2017.

Sasol will continue as the headline sponsor of the women’s national team and title sponsor of the top-tier domestic women’s league.

The partnership first commenced four years ago and Sasol has played a leading role in the development of women’s football. It has promoted women’s empowerment through football, in line with the company’s position of supporting the South African campaign for gender equity. The Sasol League now has 144 registered teams nationwide.

SAFA president Kirsten Nematandani said: “The Sasol sponsorship has played an integral role in what we have been trying to achieve with women’s football. It has allowed our ladies to participate in international competitions and that has helped develop the national team.”
