Korean electronics giant Samsung has renewed its partnership with Jordan-based non-profit organisation Generations For Peace (GFP).
The extension will take the partnership, which focuses on the eastern-Mediterranean Levant region, into a ninth year.
With Samsung’s support, GFP has launched expanded sports and arts-based programmes in Jordan, Palestine, Lebanon and Iraq.
“Our commitment with Generations For Peace is to support communities in this region who are facing very difficult challenges, to find ways to work together and build social cohesion,” Changsup Lee, president of Samsung Electronics Levant, said. “It’s about empowering youth to lead sport and arts activities benefiting their own communities.”
GFP is the only peace-through-sport organisation to be officially recognised by the International Olympic Committee, of which Samsung is a top-tier partner.
