Samsung, Diageo and HSS team up with USA Basketball

USA Basketball has announced new marketing partnerships with electronics manufacturer Samsung, beverages company Diageo and the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) in deals that will run through 2016.

To commence the partnership, all three firms will back USA Basketball’s summer schedule of national team events in Las Vegas, Chicago and New York.

Each brand will have the opportunity to promote its products and services at USA Basketball men’s and women’s team training camps, exhibition games, media and other special events in the three cities.

USA Basketball’s other partners for its summer schedule in preparation for the International Basketball Federation (Fiba) World Cup include Jeep, Nike, Wynn Las Vegas and BBVA. The Fiba World Cup takes place in Spain from August 30 to September 14.

Samsung has built a Technology Center in Las Vegas to provide USA Basketball players and staff with its latest products, including customised tablets, handsets and wearable devices and will have staff onsite to train players and coaches in using the technology. It will also produce a related digital content series that will be distributed to Samsung Galaxy users via its Owners Hub.

HSS is the first medical centre to be recognised as the official hospital of USA Basketball and will provide medical care to players throughout the camp, through to exhibition games and the World Cup. HSS physicians will feature in interviews as part of NBA TV’s in-house Real Training Camp series.

Diageo will be the presenting partner of the USA Basketball Training Camp Celebration in Chicago on August 15 and the USA Basketball Send-Off Celebration in New York City five days later, creating accompanying digital content for the events.
