Safaricom connects with Nairobi sports venues

Kenyan telecommunications company Safaricom has agreed a two-year naming rights deal for the Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani, which is located in the Kenyan capital of Nairobi.

Under the KSh55m (€476,000/$647,000) deal, the multi-sports stadium will be known as the Safaricom Stadium Kasarani – Home of Heroes, while the adjacent indoor arena will be branded the Safaricom Indoor Arena.

The Star newspaper said part of the sponsorship revenue will be used to refurbish facilities such as dressing rooms and corporate suites.

Maintenance and management of the facility will continue to be overseen by the Sports Stadia Management Board (SSMB), which selected Safaricom as the sponsor after launching a tender process in September.
