Rugby League World Cup books AccorHotels deal

The AccorHotels chain has signed a partnership with the organisers of the 2017 Rugby League World Cup.

Under the deal, AccorHotels will serve as the home for all teams, officials and tournament organisers in every host city in Australia and New Zealand, across hotel brands including Pullman, Novotel, Mercure and Ibis. Some of the tournament’s games will also take place in Papua New Guinea.

The AccorHotels brand will be incorporated into tournament properties, including in-stadia signage and digital channels.

In addition to the men’s tournament, which will run from October 27 to December 2, the partnership will also cover the Women’s Rugby League World Cup in Sydney later this year.

“AccorHotels is the market leader when it comes to looking after the unique requirements of elite sporting teams, having successfully partnered with other major events in both Australia and New Zealand,” the tournament’s chief executive, Andrew Hill, said.

AccorHotels is already the preferred accommodation partner with Australian organisations such as rugby league’s National Rugby League, the Australian Football League Aussie rules competition, Tennis Australia, Swimming Australia, Cricket Australia, Netball Australia, Softball Australia, Baseball Australia and the Australian Baseball League.
