Richmond cycling event teams up with healthcare company

Richmond 2015, the organiser of cycling’s 2015 UCI Road World Championships in the US city, has announced that Owens & Minor, the international healthcare-logistics company, has become a partner.

The nine-day event begins tomorrow (Saturday) and as part of the deal, Owens & Minor will keep the naming rights to the Race Daily, an update that informs fans via email of all the day’s developments at the Championships.

Cody Phipps, president and chief executive of Owens & Minor, which itself is headquartered in Richmond, said: “In serving our healthcare provider and manufacturer customers, we aim for the highest levels of excellence.

“We therefore salute the excellence and commitment demonstrated by the world-class athletes competing in the 2015 UCI Road World Championships.”

Wilson Flohr, chief executive of Richmond 2015, added: “Owens & Minor is known worldwide for its expertise in the healthcare industry and respected in Richmond for its ongoing commitment to our community.”

Twelve World Championship races will take place in Richmond between September 19 and September 27, with 450,000 spectators expected to turn out.
