Real Salt Lake nets new main sponsor

Major League Soccer club Real Salt Lake has signed a long-term, multi-million dollar shirt sponsorship deal with science-based network marketing company LifeVantage.

The Salt Lake City-based company replaces marketing firm XanGo in the role. Real and XanGo made history in 2006 by partnering for the first jersey-front sponsorship in US-based major league sports.

The club’s new deal with LifeVantage takes effect from January 1 to mark Real’s 10th season as an MLS team.

Terms of the contract were not publicly disclosed, but reports suggest it could be worth as much as $30m (€22m) over 10 years.

LifeVantage president and chief executive Douglas Robinson said: “As Major League Soccer popularity continues to grow, the LifeVantage brand will benefit from high-impact exposure in stadiums, on television, in advertising and player appearances across the country and around the world.”
