Real Madrid rustles up Mexican partnership

Spanish LaLiga football club Real Madrid has entered into a partnership with Mexican food brand FUD.

The brand, a subsidiary of refrigerated foods producer and distributor Sigma Alimentos, has been named an official sponsor of the club for the remainder of the 2015-16 LaLiga season and the 2016-17 campaign. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

The partnership was marked by the launch of a ‘FUD Goal’ competition, which will give Mexican fans the opportunity to win tickets to a Real Madrid home game.

“Mexico FUD is a company with prestige that will help us get closer to our fans here in Mexico,” Emilio Butragueño, the club’s director of institutional relations, said, according to Mexican newspaper La Aficion.

Butragueño also added that he hopes the club will be able to arrange a friendly match in Mexico in the near future, but admitted there are obstacles to overcome. “I think there is interest from Real Madrid to get here, but at this time we have not reached an agreement with organisers,” he told Spanish newspaper AS.
