Railway companies sign on as Tokyo 2020 partners

Japanese railway companies Tokyo Metro and East Japan Railway Company (JR East) have agreed partnerships with the Tokyo 2020 organising committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Both companies will serve as domestic second-tier official partners and have been jointly assigned the ‘passenger rail transportation services’ category. Financial terms of the agreements were not disclosed.

As official partners, Tokyo Metro and JR East will be granted the right to use official Olympic and Paralympic emblems, mascots and slogans.

“In partnership with these two companies, I am confident that we will be able to realise safe, punctual and comfortable rail transportation services for all visitors to the Tokyo 2020 Games,” Tokyo 2020 president Yoshiro Mori said.

The deals with Tokyo Metro and JR East bring the total number of domestic partnerships signed by the Tokyo 2020 organising committee to 36, a figure that includes 21 official partners.
