QPR takes flight with AirAsia extension

Malaysian low-cost airline AirAsia has agreed a one-year extension to its shirt sponsorship deal with English football team Queens Park Rangers after the club gained promotion back to the English Premier League.

The deal, which will run for the duration of the 2014-15 season, will allow the AirAsia logo to be displayed on the front of players’ shirts.
AirAsia first linked up with QPR for the 2011-12 season.

Aireen Omar, chief executive of AirAsia Malaysia, said: “The partnership that we have with QPR goes beyond branding benefits, as we work closely together in many initiatives, including lifting football standards in Asia through coaching clinics and training opportunities.”

Last month, QPR beat Derby County 1-0 in the Championship play-off final to win promotion back to the English top flight.
