Qatar National Bank invests in Trabzonspor

Turkish Süper Lig football club Trabzonspor has signed a shirt sponsorship deal with financial institution Qatar National Bank.

The three-year agreement will cover the 2016-17 to 2018-19 seasons and will be worth $7.5m (€6.7m) to Trabzonspor. Club chairman Muharrem Usta said the partnership is “by far the largest sponsorship (deal) in Turkey”.

QNB’s branding will feature on the front of the club’s playing jerseys as part of the deal. QNB will also receive various advertising rights and promotion via Trabzonspor’s digital and social media channels.

QNB is also a partner of Qatar Sports Investments-owned French Ligue 1 champion Paris Saint-Germain, and the title sponsor of the top-tier Indonesian Super League.

QNB Group communications general manager Yousef Darwish said: “The Group considers sports as one of the main pillars of its Corporate Social Responsibility and one of the preferred channels for its brand strategy, and has therefore chosen this as an optimal time for this sponsorship following its entrance into the Turkish market through Finansbank’s acquisition.

“Trabzonspor is considered one of the deepest rooted Turkish clubs with a rich legacy, great future ambitions, and a wide support base, and that is why we chose to support this distinguished club.”
