Qatar Airways has been named as the official airline sponsor of the 2015 International Handball Federation (IHF) Men’s World Championship in Doha, the capital of the Middle Eastern state.
The first major international handball tournament to be staged in Qatar will take place between January 15 and February 1 next year.
Qatar Airways is set to play a central role in providing travel for both competing teams and fans making the trip to Doha for the 24-nation event.
Dr. Thani Abdulrahman Al Kuwari, director general of the Qatar 2015 organising committee, said: “Partnering with Qatar’s national carrier for the upcoming tournament speaks volumes about the commitment to enrich the overall experience for both players and spectators of the championship.”
The financial terms of the sponsorship were not disclosed.
In other news, local water agent Tannourine has signed up as a partner of the championship.
