Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has been hit with further sanctions after the Premier League disqualified him as a director of the club, while Korean automotive manufacturer Hyundai has become the latest sponsor to suspend its association with the west London outfit.
The Premier League made its move on Saturday, following sanctions imposed by the UK Government on Thursday. The League said the decision of its board does not impact on the club’s ability to train and play its fixtures, as set out under the terms of a licence issued by the Government which expires on May 31.
