Partners sign up for NBA Africa Game

A host of companies have signed up as official partners of North American basketball league the NBA’s upcoming game in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The NBA will stage its second game in Africa on August 5 at the Ticketpro Dome. The game will operate under a Team Africa vs. Team World format.

The Kwesé Sports division of African pay-television broadcaster Kwesé TV has been named as the official broadcast partner and an official marketing partner of the event.

Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa will serve as the official automotive partner of the game, while Castle Lite has been designated official beer partner status.

US-based conglomerate General Electric and hotel company Marriott International have also signed on as official marketing partners, along with energy solutions company Solektra International.

Johannesburg-based radio station 947 will serve as the event’s official radio partner.

“This blue chip roster of partners for the second NBA Africa Game is a testament to the growth of basketball and the NBA brand across the continent,” Amadou Gallo Fall, the NBA’s vice-president and managing director for Africa, said. “These likeminded partners also share our mission to improve the lives of young people and will work with us to amplify the impact of the game of basketball throughout Africa.”

Team Africa will feature Orlando Magic player Bismack Biyombo and Emmanuel Mudiay of the Denver Nuggets, while Team World will include CJ McCollum of the Portland Trail Blazers. Full rosters will be announced at a later date.
