Partner extends with Schalke, backs esports team

Health insurance provider AOK Nordwest has extended and expanded its partnership with Schalke 04 to include sponsorship of the German Bundesliga football club’s esports team.

AOK Nordwest will continue to serve as the club’s official health partner until the end of the 2019-20 season as part of the new three-year deal.

The company also becomes the first official partner of Schalke’s esports team. AOK Nordwest has worked with Schalke on a number of health-focused initiatives in the past, and these will now extend to the club’s esports players.

The company will benefit from an extensive advertising package and will be promoted across Schalke’s social media channels.

Martina Niemeyer, deputy chairman of the board at AOK Nordwest, said: “This cooperation enables us, especially children, young people and their parents, to not only promote important health topics at Bundesliga home games or at the AOK Knappenkids-Cup (Schalke’s youth training camp), but also in the esports area.

“With innovative elements, we will be able to demonstrate our long-standing competence in the field of health promotion through this new communication channel. We also underline our innovative strength and pioneering role in this field as the largest healthcare provider in the region.”
