The NFL’s Green Bay Packers has upgraded its long-term partnership with the Oneida Nation casino operator to the level of ‘Official Casino of the Green Bay Packers’.
The two organisations have worked together on sponsor programmes for more than 20 years, including a partnership since 2002 that includes the Oneida Nation Gate on the east side of the Packers’ Lambeau Field.
The new official casino partnership is the first of its kind between the team and a casino, and follows changes in NFL guidelines that allow stronger partnerships with casinos.
Louise Cornelius, gaming general manager for Oneida Casino, said: “Oneida Casino is celebrating our 25th anniversary this year, and we are proud to help mark that milestone by enhancing our partnership with the Packers.
“As the Official Casino of the Green Bay Packers, we are excited to work even more closely with the organisation to offer unforgettable entertainment for fans, visitors and community members.”
In 2018, NFL team owners successfully lobbied the league to reverse its longstanding ban against casino advertising.
The Dallas Cowboys inked the first casino partnership in September 2018, signing with the WinStar World Casino and Resort in Thackerville, Oklahoma.
Six NFL teams followed suit by the end of November, including the Baltimore Ravens, New York Jets and Seattle Seahawks.
In January, the NFL selected Caesars Entertainment Corporation as its first ever Official Casino Sponsor.
