Packers sign partner for tailgate project

NFL American football team the Green Bay Packers has partnered with sausage producer Johnsonville to launch a permanent tailgate structure in the car park of its Lambeau Field home stadium.

Johnsonville Tailgate Village will be constructed in the east side parking lot at Lambeau Field and will be free to all fans on game days. It will be built in time for the 2017 season.

The permanent structure, which will house more than 2,000 fans, will build on the success of the Tundra Tailgate Zone, the current seasonal structure open to Packers fans on game days.

Johnsonville Tailgate Village will feature music and entertainment, large-screen televisions, food and beverages and other activities for tailgaters. The space will be available for other groups to rent on non-game days.

The village’s large event area will house more than 500 guests and will include a full kitchen for event catering, indoor restrooms, heating, radiant floors and air conditioning.

“Our brand is synonymous with tailgating, so partnering with Lambeau Field to create the Tailgate Village was a perfect fit for us to support a place that will bring families and friends together,” Shelly Stayer, president of Johnsonville Foods, said.

“We want to create an inviting indoor tailgate space that's the place to be – before, during and after the games. Johnsonville has had a longstanding partnership with Lambeau Field for several years and we’re thrilled to extend that support.”
