Overtime Elite (OTE), the new basketball entity for top high school-aged prospects, has secured a major financial boost by striking a multiyear sponsorship deal with insurance company State Farm.
State Farm has been designated the exclusive on-campus home, auto, and life insurance sponsor for the new league, which is due to begin play on October 29 in Atlanta, Georgia.
State Farm, which has a major basketball presence via its high-profile deal with the National Basketball Association, will also support OTE’s athlete education, empowerment, development and community outreach programs that will be coming to the Atlanta community.
“Helping our athletes reach their full potential on and off the court and building our community in Atlanta are priorities for us at OTE. This sponsorship with State Farm gives us the opportunity to do both,” said Aaron Ryan, OTE commissioner and president. “Not only are we able to educate our athletes on financial literacy and planning, but we will also reach basketball’s next generation of fans - engaging and giving back in Atlanta every step of the way.”
Additionally, State Farm will serve as the presenting sponsor of the OTE community platform, and the title sponsor of tentpole one-on-one King of the Court competition events during the course of the OTE season.
It follows OTE's inaugural brand partnership with Gatorade, which has been designated the organization's official sports drink.
Along with providing products from across the brand’s portfolio, the partnership will offer the league access to leading hydration and nutrition expertise from the Gatorade Sports Science Institute.American digital media entity Overtime earlier this year detailed its dramatic plans to create OTE, offering six-figure player salaries and an opportunity for prospects to bypass college play and earn money while preparing for potential entry into the NBA.
