Oaks Hotels & Resorts has agreed a deal to become a co-major sponsor of AFL Aussie rules football team the Brisbane Lions.
The two-year deal covers the 2018 and 2019 AFL seasons, and also names Oaks, which is based in Queensland, as the official hotel partner of the club. The contract includes the option of a one-year extension.
As part of the agreement, the company’s logo will feature on the back of the Lions’ home guernsey, and on the front of the team’s away and ‘clash’ jumpers. Oaks’ branding will also appear on the team’s on-field apparel.
The partnership represents Oaks’ first large-scale sports sponsorship deal. The company’s portfolio includes 56 properties across Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates and India, with more than 6,000 guest rooms under its management.
Insurance company Vero is the Lions’ other co-major sponsor, with its branding appearing on the front of the team’s home guernsey.
