New York Mets capture Nikon renewal

Major League Baseball franchise the New York Mets has signed an extension to its partnership with Nikon, under which the Japanese company will become the official digital camera of the team.

The new three-year deal will cover the upcoming 2016 MLB season, as well as the 2017 and 2018 campaigns.

Under the agreement, Nikon will receive extensive advertising exposure at the Mets’ Citi Field stadium, including commandeering the largest static sign at the ballpark. Various activations, including behind-the-scenes content and photo opportunities, will also be organised for fans on game days.

Supporters will be encouraged to share their photos on social media using the #NikonMets hashtag. Nikon will also extend its backing to the Mets’ professional photographer community.

“In expanding our relationship with the New York Mets, we want fans to think of Nikon when capturing and sharing their favourite Citi Field moments,” Masahiro Horie, director of marketing and planning at Nikon, said.

The Mets’ 2016 season begins at the Kansas City Royals on April 3.
