NBA books extended stay with Marriott

Hotel group Marriott International has extended its partnership with North American basketball league the NBA.

Under the new multi-year deal Marriott International will sponsor the NBA’s House Rio and All-Star events, as well as select editions of the NBA Global Games series. Marriott International has also been named an official partner of the USA Basketball national governing body.

Under the agreement, Marriott International’s new Experiences Marketplace will give its members the chance to win exclusive experiences for the House of Rio, All-Star and Global Games events, as well as the USA Basketball Showcase series. Experiences will include VIP passes, meet-and-greets and giveaways.

Marriott International will produce NBA- and USA Basketball-specific content for its social media channels. The content will feature current players and legends of the game. The group will also organise NBA-themed sweepstakes and promotions.

“Marriott has done an outstanding job of engaging their millions of global Rewards members around many of our marquee league events,” Emilio Collins, NBA executive vice-president of global marketing partnerships, said. “With our new expanded partnership, they're raising the bar and extending the reach of our partnership to more programs, and even more fans, around the world.”

NBA first partnered with Marriott International in July last year. Under the agreement, Marriott International served as the official hotel of the NBA Global Games 2015-16, NBA Africa Game 2015 and NBA Canada Series 2015.

Marriott expanded its partnership in January by agreeing to sponsor the NBA’s Global Games event in London, England.
