MLS’s DoorDash deal points to increased sponsor involvement in MLS Next

Major League Soccer's (MLS) March signing of DoorDash to its sponsorship portfolio was the result of long-term interest in the online food delivery category dating back to before the pandemic.

After the sports marketing arm of the MLS, Soccer United Marketing, identified the category as meeting its criteria, conversations were held with several brands prior to March 2020, before the process was paused as the impact of the pandemic took hold.
