Wearable motion capture technology provider Blast Motion has entered into a multi-year partnership with North America’s Major League Baseball.
Although terms of the deal were undisclosed, it was confirmed that Blast Motion will become the official bat sensor technology of the league.
Blast technology will be made available for use by MLB teams and also integrated into selected television broadcasts. The technology will also feature at the All-Star Futures Game and USA Baseball Tournament of Stars.
Blast will also make its products available to purchase through MLB’s official online shop.
The Blast Baseball ‘Power Sensor’ swing analysis sensor and the accompanying mobile applications have been designed to help players improve their swing.
The sensor and bat attachment are placed on the knob of the bat and capture swing metrics and relays data back to the app, which creates a series of video highlights for the user to view.
