Michelin extends backing of Australian MotoGP event

French tyre manufacturer Michelin has renewed its title sponsorship of the Australian round of the MotoGP motorcycling championship.

The 2018 Michelin Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix will take place from October 26-28 at Victoria’s Phillip Island Circuit.

Michelin is MotoGP’s official tyre supplier and 2018 will mark its third year as title sponsor of the Australian Grand Prix.

Michelin replaced Italian generator manufacturer Pramac as the event’s title sponsor in 2016. The company agreed the new deal with Dorna Sports, MotoGP’s commercial rights-holder.

Matthew Ye, senior vice-president of Business Line 2 Wheels Worldwide for Michelin, said: “Our association with MotoGP has helped us to build brand awareness in many key high-growth markets. Our continuing involvement with the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix as title sponsor provides us with a first-class platform to address biking enthusiasts across the world.”
