Financial holding company Markel Corporation has agreed a commercial partnership with Richmond’s organising committee for the 2015 International Cycling Union (UCI) Road World Championships.
Markel will serve as the official speciality insurer of the nine-day event when it takes place in the Virginia state capital from September 19-27.
As part of the deal it will hold the naming rights to Richmond 2015’s volunteer programme and the VIP pavilion on the start/finish line.
Markel is the second addition to Richmond 2015’s sponsorship roster this week after organisers reached an agreement with Japanese luxury automotive manufacturer Lexus.
