Malaysian football body partners with agency in sponsorship drive

Football Malaysia LLP has agreed a partnership with Ampersand Sports that will result in the agency brokering sponsorship deals for a range of events.

The five-year deal is effective from 2018, with Ampersand Sports to source sponsorship for club competitions such as the Super League, Premier League, Malaysia Cup and FA Cup.

FMLLP head Tunku Sultan Ibrahim, who is also president of the Football Association of Malaysia, said, according to the New Straits Times newspaper: “Ampersand has set a target to source a minimum of RM104m (€21.5m/$25.5m) in sponsorships for five years.

“FAM will not take a cent and the sum raised from this initiative will also be channelled to developments programmes conducted by the state teams and clubs.”
