Macron enters Serbian market with Red Star deal

Serbian SuperLiga top-tier football club Red Star Belgrade has agreed a new kit partnership with Italian sportswear manufacturer Macron.

The five-year deal will commence from the 2017-18 season and run through to the 2021-22 campaign. Macron replaces Puma in the role, with Red Star stating the financial terms are “significantly better” under the new contract.

Macron will manufacture first team playing and training kit, as well as provide a range of leisurewear for fans to purchase.

Macron’s sports marketing manager, Francesco Martinelli, said: “We wanted to sponsor a club in Serbia in order to fully enter the market and we selected Red Star as the biggest club in Serbia.” He added that the company wouldn’t be seeking another club partner in the country.

Red Star Belgrade finished as champion of the 2016-17 Serbian SuperLiga, six points ahead of rival Partizan Belgrade in second place.
