Spanish lottery group Loterías y Apuestas del Estado has renewed its sponsorship agreement with the Vuelta a España cycling race.
LAE will continue to sponsor the Mountains jersey at this year’s race, which will take place from August 20 to September 11. The jersey is awarded to the event’s best climber and was last year won by Spain’s Omar Fraile (centre of picture).
LAE president Inmaculada García Martinez also confirmed the group does not have any plans to sponsor cycling teams in the future. “The answer is no,” she said. “We like to be with everyone. We sponsor events and do not identify with one team as in other countries like France with La Française des Jeux.”
The 2016 Vuelta will be LAE’s fifth consecutive edition as a sponsor of the ‘Grand Tour’ event.
