Longines adds Japan Cup to horse racing portfolio

Luxury Swiss watch brand Longines has bolstered its established presence in horse racing through a sponsorship agreement with the Japan Racing Association for the Japan Cup.

Longines becomes official partner, official timekeeper and official watch to the event, where it will promote its equestrian-inspired Conquest Classic collection.

The Japan Cup began in 1981 and is a prestigious 2,400 metre international Group 1 turf race for horses aged three-years or older.

Terms for the deal between Longines and the JRA were not disclosed.

Longines’ substantial equine sports portfolio includes the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, the Dubai World Cup, the Melbourne Cup Carnival, the Breeders’ Cup, the Triple Crown and title sponsorship of the Singapore Gold Cup, the Queen Elizabeth Stakes and the Kentucky Oaks.

Additionally, Longines is an official partner and the official watch of the International Federation of Horseracing Authorities (IFHA) and acts as title sponsor for the organisation’s world horse and jockey rankings and awards.
