Liverpool connects with Skype

Online communications platform Skype has entered into a global partnership with English Premier League football club Liverpool.

Under the deal, the terms of which were not disclosed, Skype will launch a range of Liverpool-themed emoticons that can be used on the platform. The first batch of emoticons will include mini versions of Liverpool players Jordan Henderson, Philippe Coutinho and Daniel Sturridge, as well as manager Jürgen Klopp.

Skype will also launch an official Liverpool Skype ID, which will allow fans to interact with each other in group chats during matches. Fans that use the ID will also gain access to exclusive content from the club as well as competitions to win signed Liverpool memorabilia.

Billy Hogan, chief commercial officer at Liverpool, said: “Through this partnership we’re enabling Liverpool FC’s global family to interact with the club and we’re delighted to be working together so closely on this great piece of innovation that our fans can enjoy every day.”
