Lipton Iced Tea backs MLB’s “fan wave” drive

PepsiCo-owned brand Lipton Iced Tea has signed a deal to become the official iced tea of Major League Baseball.

As part of the deal, Lipton is backing the MLB’s bid to “re-institutionalise” the traditional fan wave. The first, ceremonial Lipton Rally Wave took place at New York’s Citi Field during Monday’s Home Run Derby.

Throughout the remainder of the MLB season, fans will be encouraged to take part in the wave when the Lipton branding appears on ballpark screens during games and have the chance to be rewarded with prizes including tickets to future matches.

Additionally, supporters can visit MLB.com from July 18 to participate in the MLB Lipton Wave Sweepstakes for the chance to win 10 tickets to a post-season game of their choice.

Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
